Define the scope of your video project

Do you know how the video will be used?

A good director will want to know where the video will be screened or played, as it will affect shooting, scripting and editing.  Whether for projection, web, TV, laptop/PC, certain kinds of shots will appear better than others.  You don’t want a giant head to dominate your 3m screen, nor do you want tiny, unrecognizable people in your web video.

What context will the video be screened?  Individual, group, work, leisure, etc.

Are you vying for attention, or do you already have their attention?

Action Step
- Write a priority list of media where your video will be screened; projection, plasma, PC/Mac/Laptop, web browser, TV, mobile device, point of sale LCD, etc.
